Report: Emery to go to training camp with Blackhawks
Ray Emery's agent told ESPN.com on Thursday that the veteran goalie will go to camp with the Blackawks in September on a tryout basis.
Ray Emery reportedly will have a chance to earn a contract with the Chicago Blackhawks in training camp.

The goaltender's agent told ESPN.com on Thursday that Emery will go to camp with the Hawks in September on a tryout basis. Agent J.P. Barry told the site that Chicago will have until Oct. 1 to sign Emery or release him.

Emery, 28, is an unrestricted free agent who recovered from major hip surgery in 2009-10. He played well down the stretch for the Anaheim Ducks last season after Jonas Hiller was sidelined with vertigo.

"He's been training every day still with his trainer Matt Nichol," Barry told ESPN.com. "He's had a complete 100 percent recovery".

Emery signed with the Ducks in February and went 7-2-0 with a 2.28 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. He was 2-3 during Anaheim's six-game first-round loss to the Nashville Predators.

Emery will compete for the chance to back up starter Corey Crawford. The Hawks opted not to bring back veteran Marty Turco.
