Penguins sign Jason Williams to two-way deal
The Pittsburgh Penguins added forward depth Tuesday with the signing of veteran Jason Williams to a one-year contract.

Williams, 30, agreed to a two-way deal that is worth $600,000 at the NHL level. He finished last season with Dallas, posting 2 goals and 5 points in 27 games, after spending two months playing in the AHL for the Connecticut Whale.

An undrafted free agent, Williams broke into the NHL with Detroit in 2000-01 and was part of the Red Wings' championship team the following season. His best season came in 2005-06 when he posted 21 goals and 58 points in 80 games.

Williams has also played for Chicago, Atlanta and Columbus while returning briefly for a second stint in Detroit. For his career, he has 93 goals and 225 points in 447 games.

Also Tuesday, the Penguins announced the signing of defenseman Scott Harrington, their second-round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft, to a three-year, entry-level contract.

"Scott will continue his development in junior hockey this season with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, and we look forward to watching his progress," said Assistant General Manager Tom Fitzgerald. "The three-year term will begin when he makes the transition to pro hockey, but we are pleased to get him signed at this point and have him as a part of the Penguins organization, and part of our future."
