Red Wings re-sign Pearce

Thursday, 07.21.2011 / 7:05 PM / NHL Free Agency 2011

The Detroit Red Wings on Thursday re-signed goaltender Jordan Pearce to a two-year contract.
Pearce, 24, went 20-15-5 with a 2.89 goals-against average and .908 save percentage in 2010-11 with Detroit's American Hockey League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins. He made 1,164 saves in 44 appearances and actually made 20 straight starts (12-6-2) when he seized the starting role down the stretch to almost lead the Griffins to the playoffs. The native of Alaska has yet to play a game in the NHL.
Pearce also appeared in eight contests with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye last season, going 3-5-0 with a 4.13 GAA and .883 save percentage. In 50 games with the Griffins over the last three years, Pearce is 21-18-5 with a 3.01 GAA and .904 save percentage.

Playing for my favorite team growing up, I've probably scored that goal a million times in my driveway. It feels good to actually do it in real life.
