Lapierre tallies in third to give Canucks 1-0 win and a 3-2 series lead

All summer long, NHL Network will be replaying the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs -- from every jaw-dropping goal to every highlight-reel save to every crushing defeat.

Each game of the postseason -- spanning the more than two-month period from the opening round to Boston's Game 7 clincher of the Stanley Cup Final -- will be shown on the Network throughout the offseason.

After taking the first two games of the series at home, the Canucks were probably expecting to return to Rogers Arena with at least a commanding series lead, if not with the Stanley Cup trophy in tow. However, a visit to TD Garden for Games 3 and 4 would result in two wins for the hometown Boston Bruins by a combined score of 12-1. Instead of Game 5 being an opportunity to close things out, the Canucks were now desperate to protect their home-ice advantage against an upstart Bruins squad.

The goalies would once again become the focal point as Tim Thomas continued to impress for the Bruins, while Roberto Luongo of the Canucks recovered nicely from a few rough starts in Beantown. The Canucks would wind up with a 3-2 series lead on a late goal off a wrist shot by Maxim Lapierre for the 1-0 victory. Thomas led Luongo with 30 saves, but Luongo would earn his second shutout of the series by turning aside 25 Bruins shots on goal.
