WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed winger Blake Wheeler to a new contract.

The deal, announced Monday, is reportedly worth US$5.1 million over two years.

Wheeler joined the Atlanta Thrashers last February through a trade with Boston that also brought defenceman Mark Stuart.

He appeared in 23 games for Atlanta and recorded seven goals and 10 assists. He had 27 points last season with the Bruins.

The Robbinsdale, Minn., native, who was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in 2004, has 57 goals and 70 assists over three NHL seasons.

The Jets also announced Monday new contracts with defenceman Brett Festerling, centre Riley Holzapfel, defenceman Arturs Kulda, winger Spencer Machacek, centre Ben Maxwell and right winger Kenndal McArdle.
