Monday, 07.18.2011 / 7:04 PM / NHL Free Agency 2011

The Anaheim Ducks signed defenseman Mathieu Carle to a one-year contract on Monday.

The 23-year-old Carle was acquired July 15 from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Mark Mitera. This past season, Carle made 68 appearances with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League, registering 11 goals and 29 points to go along with 44 penalty minutes.

In the Calder Cup Playoffs, Carle had a team-high 3 goals and 12 points in 19 contests.

A native of Gatineau, QC, Carle made his NHL debut with the Canadiens on Nov. 3, 2009. He was selected by Montreal in the second round (No. 53) of the 2006 Entry Draft.

In 222 career AHL contests, Carle has scored 30 goals and 97 points.

I didn't think it would actually work, but it ended up working, so I'm thanking my lucky stars tonight.
