Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo and Bruins netminder Tim Thomas would match each other save for save for almost the entire 60 minutes of regulation with Luongo finishing with 36 saves and Thomas stopping 33 of Vancouver's 34 shots on goal. But Game 1 would go to Vancouver on the strength of a Raffi Torres goal with just 18.5 seconds remaining in the third period. The 1-0 result marked just the sixth time in the expansion era that Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final ended in a shutout. Luongo's solid effort also resulted in him making an impressive 92 saves on 94 shots going back to Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals against San Jose.
