The Senators have signed restricted free-agent forward Bobby Butler to a two-year contract. Terms of the contract were undisclosed.
Butler, 24, split the 2010-11 season between Ottawa and the team's AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. In 36 NHL games, he had 10 goals and 11 assists. He played steadily in the NHL after Feb. 14.
After the Senators' season ended, he was returned to Binghamton for the AHL playoffs. After scoring 33 points in 47 regular-season games, he finished second on the team with 13 goals in 23 games as Binghamton won its first Calder Cup.
Butler was also the MVP of the 2011 AHL All-Star Classic after totaling 1 goal and 3 assists in the Eastern Conference's 11-8 victory in Hershey, Pa., on Jan. 31.
