The San Jose Sharks were prepared to make sure the Detroit Red Wings would not complete a 3-0 comeback in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals series. After dropping three straight games to Detroit, the Sharks took Game 7 by storm, taking a 2-0 lead after the first period.
Rookie Logan Couture scored for a fourth consecutive game and Dan Boyle notched two assists to shut down the Red Wings in a game largely dominated by the Sharks. Detroit veterans Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk each scored, but it was too little, too late for the Red Wings as the Sharks won the game 3-2 to move onto the Western Conference Finals.
Overall, the series featured six one-goal games and a two-goal game that only reached that margin because of an empty-net goal.
