Cheechoo signs one-year deal with Blues
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the St. Louis Blues signed former 50-goal scorer Jonathan Cheechoo to a one-year, two-way contract Tuesday.
The St. Louis Blues signed former 50-goal scorer Jonathan Cheechoo to a one-year, two-way contract Tuesday. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting Cheechoo will make $600,000 if he's in the NHL, $105,000 if he plays for the Blues' American Hockey League team, the Peoria Rivermen.

Cheechoo, who won the Rocket Richard Trophy after scoring 56 goals for the San Jose Sharks in the 2005-06 season, hasn't played in the NHL since the 2009-10 season, when he had 5 goals in 61 games with the Ottawa Senators.

Since the 2001-02 season, only Alex Ovechkin has scored more goals in one season than Cheechoo, when he had 65 in 2007-08.

Cheechoo spent all of last season with the Worcester Sharks, San Jose's AHL affiliate, where he had a team-high 47 points in 55 games, and was second with 18 goals.

In 501 NHL games with the Sharks and Senators, the 30-year-old right wing has 170 goals and 305 points.
