Sauer, Anisimov agree to two-year deals
The New York Rangers signed restricted free agents Michael Sauer and Artem Anisimov to two-year contracts Friday.

Sauer's contract is reportedly worth $2.5 million; Anisimov's contract is reportedly worth $3.75 million.

Sauer had 3 goals and 12 assists in 76 games last season, his first full one in the NHL. The 23-year-old from St. Cloud, Minn., played mostly with fellow rookie defenseman Ryan McDonagh as the Rangers' No. 2 defense pairing. He also was a plus-20, the best rating on the Rangers and fourth-best among League rookies.

Anisimov, 23, had a career-high 18 goals and 26 assists in his second NHL season. He was at his best while centering a line with Brandon Dubinsky and Ryan Callahan, who are also RFAs.

The Rangers' other remaining RFA is forward Brian Boyle.
Quote of the Day

I'm hoping Bob [Murray] didn't go out and get Dany Heatley just to get someone. I'm sure he's excited and motivated.
