The Montreal Canadiens had been relying on special teams to help them battle the Boston Bruins all series. So it’s hardly surprising that the man advantage would play an important role for the Canadiens in a must-win Game 6. While the Bruins’ power play went scoreless in four attempts, Montreal scored both of its goals with the extra man, allowing the Habs to top Boston 2-1 and force a seventh game in their opening-round series.
With his third goal in his last five games, Mike Cammalleri opened the scoring halfway through the first period before Dennis Seidenberg tied the game just 48 seconds into the second. But Brian Gionta replied exactly five minutes later and Carey Price stopped 31 Bruins shots to ensure that this three-versus-six matchup went the distance.
