Skinner highlights NHL All-Rookie team
Calder Trophy winner Jeff Skinner of the Carolina Hurricanes and fellow finalists Logan Couture and Michael Grabner highlighted the 2010-11 NHL All-Rookie Team, announced Wednesday night.

Skinner, Carolina's top pick in last year's Entry Draft, led all first-year players with 63 points, including 31 goals. Grabner, of the New York Islanders, was tops among first-year players with 34 goals, while Couture scored 32 goals to help the San Jose Sharks win the Pacific Division title.

Also named to the All-Rookie Team are goaltender Corey Crawford of the Chicago Blackhawks and defensemen John Carlson of the Washington Capitals and P.K. Subban of the Montreal Canadiens

Crawford, who took over when Cup-winning goaltender Antti Niemi signed with San Jose, became only the second Blackhawks goaltender to reach the 30-win milestone since 1994.

Carlson stepped up to a top shutdown role on Washington's blue line in 2010-11, playing in all 82 games and averaging 22:38 of ice time, most among Caps defensemen. He finished with 37 points and a plus-21 rating.

Subban led all Montreal defensemen in scoring with 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists), including a team-leading nine power-play goals. He also had a hat trick on March 20 -- the first three-goal game by a rookie defenseman in franchise history.

Voting was conducted by the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association at the end of the regular season.
