BOUCHERVILLE, Que. - NHL players Danny Briere, Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Ian Laperriere were unveiled Wednesday as part of a new ownership group for the Montreal Juniors.

The trio join former NHL defenceman Joel Bouchard, who will serve as president and governor for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team. He was an assistant coach with the Juniors last season and also worked as a hockey analyst for the French-language all-sports television network RDS.

Pierre Gendron, a longtime business partner of Bouchard's and a former QMJHL player, is also part of the ownership group, as is majority shareholder Quebecor Media, led by Pierre Karl Peladeau.

Briere, Giguere and Laperriere will also have advisory roles with the club, which plans to change its name and colours for next season.

"We are very pleased to welcome this group of shareholders led by media mogul Pierre Karl Peladeau; a fine association that will continue to grow with the league for years to come," QMJHL commissioner Gilles Courteau said in a release.

The team will move from the Verdun Auditorium to the Centre d'Excellence Sports Rousseau in Boisbriand, Que., just north of Montreal for the 2011-12 campaign. Bouchard runs a hockey academy at the Boisbriand rink.

Quote of the Day

Just the feel for the direction they were headed and what they're trying to do, it just felt that this is a really good thing for this organization. They've got the pieces. We can put something together and go on a run or two and be together for a while, and I'm really excited about that opportunity. The team we have here has an opportunity to win, and that's the most attractive thing.
