TORONTO - Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Ron Wilson will have some new assistants on the bench next season.

The club announced Monday it has hired Scott Gordon and Greg Cronin. Assistant coaches Keith Acton and Tim Hunter will not return next season.

Gordon, 48, coached the New York Islanders from 2008 to 2010, compiling a 64-93-23 record. He was also an assistant coach on Wilson's U.S. Olympic team that won silver last year in Vancouver.

Cronin, also 48, joins the Leafs after six seasons as head coach of Northeastern University in Boston. He also served as the head coach of the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Tigers from 2003 to 2005, following a five-year stint as an assistant coach with the New York Islanders.

Acton had been with the Maple Leafs since the 2000'-01 season, while Hunter joined Toronto's coaching staff in 2008.
