Devils file for arbitration with Zach Parise
New Jersey has filed for arbitration with restricted free agent Zach Parise, meaning that he will be a Devil for the 2011-12 season.

Devils president and general manager Lou Lamoriello says the team made the move to protect its rights, adding it will continue to work to sign Parise to a long-term contract. Under the NHL's arbitration rules, the move means that Parise will be awarded a one-year contract and become an unrestricted free agent next July 1 unless he reaches a new deal with New Jersey.

Parise missed most of this past season after having surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee in early November. He returned late in the season for one game.

Before his injury, Parise had been the catalyst of the Devils' offense for four seasons, scoring 146 goals. Without Parise, the Devils missed the playoffs for the first time since 1996.
Quote of the Day

You get more opportunity, and at the end of the day those are the times you've got to step up and show what you're made of. Together as a team, that's how you win games. I think we stuck together. That's kind of our philosophy here. We have good leadership and good guys to lean on.
