Report: Cheveldayoff offered Winnipeg GM job
The Winnipeg Free Press reported on Sunday that the ownership group of Winnipeg's new NHL franchise has offered the GM position to Kevin Cheveldayoff, who is currently the Senior Director of Hockey Operations for the Chicago Blackhawks.
It appears as if True North has found its general manager.

The Winnipeg Free Press reported Sunday that the ownership group of Winnipeg's new NHL franchise has offered the GM position to Kevin Cheveldayoff, who is currently the senior director of hockey operations for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Cheveldayoff, 41, was a first-round draft pick of the New York Islanders in 1988, but injuries prevented him from ever reaching the NHL. He was forced to retire in 1994 after only four seasons in the minor leagues.

If he accepts the position, Cheveldayoff would replace Rick Dudley, who was informed Saturday by True North that he would not be brought from Atlanta to Winnipeg.
