NHL encourages support for Joplin tornado victims

The May 22 tornado that destroyed much of Joplin, Missouri was the deadliest single U.S. tornado in nearly 60 years.  The NHL is encouraging fans to donate to the Red Cross disaster relief fund to help victims.

To help aid the relief effort, fans can donate via the League's NHL Green site or through the American Red Cross here.

Donations can also be made via text message by texting "REDCROSS" to 90999.
