Attack coach Mark Reeds said Hishon, whose 24 playoff points (5 goals, 19 assists) tied for the Ontario Hockey League playoff scoring lead, underwent a baseline concussion test.
"We'll have some indication when we get the results back," Reeds said following Owen Sound's morning practice here at the Hershey Centre.
Hishon, taken by the Colorado Avalanche with the 17th pick of the 2010 Entry Draft, was "doing fine," Reeds said.
With 5:35 left in what became a 5-0 Owen Sound victory, 6-foot-4 Kootenay captain Brayden McNabb met the 5-foot-10 Hishon near center ice. As Hishon tried to get away from the hit, McNabb elbowed him. Hishon did not return to the game.
Left wing Daniel Zweep will replace Hishon in the Owen Sound lineup. The 19-year-old had 2 goals, 6 points and 85 penalty minutes in 48 games this season.
Monday's game will pit the only two undefeated teams in the four-team tournament, with the winner guaranteed a spot in Friday's semifinal. Getting there would be easier for Owen Sound if Hishon were available. He led the team in the regular season with 49 assists and tied for the team lead with 86 points.
"You can't really replace a player like that, but we've played without him a few times this year and we've done great," Owen Sound center Andrew Shaw told reporters. "We've just got to have a lot of guys step up and play better."
