Bergenheim tallies eighth goal in 5-2 win
Sean Bergenheim has been a key during Tampa Bay's postseason run, evidenced by his playoff-leading eighth goal scored against the Bruins in Game 1.
BOSTON -- Sean Bergenheim continues to be one of the biggest surprises of the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

He collected his eighth goal of this postseason Saturday night, moving him to the top of the NHL list in that category as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Boston Bruins 5-2 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals at TD Garden.

Bergenheim now has 8 goals in 12 games after scoring only 14 in 80 regular-season contests. Here's what he had to say after his team took a 1-0 lead in this series:

Q: How does it feel to be the leading goal scorer in the playoffs?

A: Well, you know, it's a good feeling but to be honest the best feeling is that we're winning. I'm obviously happy that I've been helping the team but I think it's more of a line effort and our line that's been clicking.

Q: What has been the key to your line's success?

A: Well I think our goal today, the first one that we scored, was, you know, that's what we do. We went in on the forecheck and we got the puck in front of the net and scored that way and I think we've actually scored many goals kind of like it, like that one. Yeah I think, to be honest, I think both teams were a little bit rusty, especially in the beginning and I think also we as a line can do better than today.

Q: How has your role increased during the playoffs?

A: Well, you know, I think my role has been, the whole year, pretty much the same with the difference that now, obviously, we as a line are scoring a little bit more. I think the ice time has been pretty much the same and that's great. With this coach, it's always if you play well you usually get a little bit more ice time. So I don't see that my role has changed and it can’t change because I think this is what I got to do to help the team.

Q: How did you see the play develop on your goal and is recognizing the play something you've been better at in the postseason?

A: A little bit, yeah. As I said earlier, I think, obviously we did a good job on the forecheck and I kind of, what I've tried to work on lately is to maybe when I see some situations I'll take a step back instead of being in the goalie's, you know, like right next to the goalie and now it's been working. It doesn't mean that I'm not crashing the net still. I've got to keep on doing that to help the team, but there's a little bit of a different thing there that I've been trying to do and so far it's worked out, thanks to my linemates about that, because they're doing a tremendous job.
