17:53 David Krejci just had an amazing shorthanded chance in fromnt of Montreal net, but Price was the equal of it. A dozen saves for the Montreal netminder this period.

16:50 Penalty troubles continue to befuddle the Bruins. They have been pressing all period for an equalizer, forcing Carey Price to make 10 saves, some of the brilliant variety. Yet, Chris kelly just took a offensive-zone high-sticking penalty for striking Travis Moen in the face while chasing down a loose puck.

10:06 It has been all Carey Price in the third period. He just made another stellar save on a tricky redirection by Chris Kelly. That's 8 saves this period. His Canadiens have just 2 shots on Thomas. Price has 68 of the last 71 shots he has faced.

5:58 Price has been very sharp in the third. He just made a confident glove save on a shot from the point. He already has 26 saves. Brad Marchand was in there immediately looking for a rebound, but there was none. Marchand has been Boston's most abrasive -- and, not surprisingly -- most effective player tonight.

20:00 Boston had a good closing two minutes, applying pressure on consistent basis. Will need to carry that momentum into third as they search for equalizer.

16:48 Not much of a PP. Nathan Horton takes a slash to negate PP. Maybe they can create offense 4-on-4.

16:16 Carey Price made a mistake handling the puck behind his net and Boston almost converted before Price got back and denied a stuff attempt. Boston should force Price to try to play the puck more with well-placed dump-ins. He has had trouble throughout the series. Jaro Spacek took a penalty on the play as well and Boston is on its third straight PP. 0-for-18 now.

12:54 Boston has no confidence with the man advantage. They made far too many hopeful, low-percentage passes and managed just two shots. Only the one by David krejci from the right faceoff circle was dangerous. And, by the way, Jaro Spacek is back for Montreal. He returned at start of the penalty kIll for Hamrlik's infraction.

10:23 Montreal takes a penalty it did not need to take, even with Boston's power play struggling as mightily as it is now. Roman Hamrlik is in the box for defensive-zone interference on Andrew ference. Bruins are 0-for-16 on PP in this series.

9:24 Brian Gionta will be having nightmares about Tim Thomas this summer. For the second straight game, Thomas robbed Gionta of a sure goal, throwing his body at a 1-timer by Gionta in the waning seconds Of the five-minute major on Lucic. Will that save be as big as the one Thomas made in double OT of Game 5? Time will tell.

4:27 Milan Lucic spent all morning talking about how he felt his game was coming along and he was ready to make an Impact. Instead, he is done for the night. Lucic was just assessed a boarding major and and a game misconduct after slamming Spacek into boards at center ice. Spacek was dumping puck into zone at the time. He had to be helped Off the ice.


2:38 Well, good to see Carey Price isn't sulking about that "soft" goal against Seidenberg. He just flashed a quick glove to rob Patrice Bergeron in the slot.  Boston looks much better in the early going here.

20:00 Crazy last minute to the period. Michael Ryder had a strong rush up the ice and forced Andrei Kostitsyn into a hooking penalty with 29 seconds left. But, before Boston's anemic power-playu (0-for-15 in this series) could get going, Patrice bergeron took a goalie interference penalty. Now, Boston is 0-for-16 on the PP and we will start second period playing 4-on-4. And, oh yeah, at final whistle, Zdeno Chara and P.K. Subban had a little tussle. Good times.

16:19 Montreal is back to clogging up shooting lanes and using sticks to block shots and attempts. Boston will have to get working shoes on and get dirty to beat Carey Price tonight. Shots are 11-9 in Montreal's favor.

13:48 Check out this number. Mike cammalleri is playing in playoff game No. 25 with Montreal. He now has 16 goals in those 25 games. Wow! That is clutch.

10:07 Mike Cammalleri just had 60 seconds he can be quite proud of. He saw Boston had too many men on the ice and shot the puck at the extra man to alert the referees that Johnny Boychuk was on ice illegally. Boston took another penalty for interference off the faceoff, by Dennis Seidenberg, and Montreal had 1:57 of 5-on-3 time. Cammalleri only need a minute of that to give Montreal the lead. He took a cross-ice pass from P.K. Subban and hammered a one-timer from the right faceoff dot past Tim Thomas before the goalie could even react. Goal, MTL 1-0

7:18 Lars Eller is back on bench for Montreal. He was in dressing room for about 5 minutes for treatment on what appeared to be arm injury. Wonder how effective he will be?

5:58 Pace is fantastic. Teams going end to end. Montreal has absorbed the first two bad breaks of the night. Not only have they had Brian Gionta's goal waved off, but Lars Eller is hurt and back in dressing room. He suffered an apparent arm injury after a big hit behind Boston net on his first shift. With David Dasharnais unable to play and Eller now out, Martin will have to be creative with his forward line rotation. Might be excuse he needs to ride his top two lines long and hard in an elimination game.

3:27 What a sequence. Patrice Bergeron just had a prime opportunity in the slot, but a tenacious backcheck by Scott Gomez -- yes Scott Gomez -- stopped him from getting the shot off. Montreal went right back down the ice and Brian Gionta seemed to score when Tim Thomas could not handle rebound. But, referee blew play dead before gionta could shovel it into net. No goal! Crowd losing its collective mind here at Bell Centre!

1:39 A pretty frenetic start to the game. David Krejci had a great chance on a 2-on-1 but could not pull the trigger after pass was behind him and Montreal fans are serenading Tim Thomas derisively every time the puck goes near him.

6:59 p.m. First surprise of the night. After taking warmups, Montreal defenseman James Wisniewski can not go in the game. He will be replaced by Paul Mara, making his 2011 playoff debut. Despite not playing yet, Mara might just have the best first-round beard in the tournament. It's a beauty. As expected, David Dasharnais is also not playing, he will be replaced by forward/defenseman Yanick Weber, who will play on the fourth line. Weber scored in Game 2, his only other appearance in these playoffs.

6:42 p.m. Welcome to Montreal and the Bell Centre. It's been a long time since I have been here. Playoffs last year, in fact. But, this place never changes. It is always an amazing place to watch a game. The atmosphere is undeniable. My hotel is just two blocks from the arena and it was near impossible to concentrate on the second half of the Manchester United v. Schalke game on the hotel TV with all the drum-beating and horn-honking going on outside. It should be an amazing night here and I will try to capture here for the next two-plus hours.
