NEW YORK/TORONTO – For the second consecutive day, hockey fans across North America will be able to watch the game that will decide the eighth and final conference playoff spot when the NHL Network™ features the Dallas Stars and the Minnesota Wild at 6:00 p.m. ET today.*
With a win in regulation or overtime in the 1,230th and final game of the 2010-11 regular season, the Stars will secure the eighth seed in the Western Conference and a match-up with the top-seeded Vancouver Canucks. Should the Stars win in a shootout or lose to the Wild, the Chicago Blackhawks would secure the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
Last night, the NHL Network televised the Tampa Bay Lightning win over the Carolina Hurricanes that allowed the New York Rangers to secure the eighth and final playoff position in the Eastern Conference.
For both U.S. and Canadian audiences, the Dallas-Minnesota game on the NHL Network will begin more than five hours of live programming at 6:00 p.m. ET from Xcel Energy Center. The NHL On The Fly™ team will host live intermission shows throughout the game before rolling into a special edition of NHL On The Fly following the game.
Host Brian Duff, regular contributor Mike Johnson and special guest analyst Billy Jaffe will begin the live playoff coverage at 10 p.m. ET with the NHL On The Fly: Playoff Match-Up Scheduling Show, during which they’ll reveal the schedule and match-ups for the first round of the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The show also will also be streamed live on NHL.com for U.S. audiences.
*Local blackout restrictions apply. Locally in Dallas, viewers will be able to see the game on TXA21 and in Minnesota on Fox Sports North. All broadcasts are available in HD.
