Penguins face Flyers on NHL Network

Despite a list of injuries that would have sunk most other teams, the Pittsburgh Penguins have stayed within hailing distance of the Philadelphia Flyers in the Atlantic Division race. But if they want to catch their in-state rivals, a win Thursday night is a must.

The Penguins go cross-state to the Wells Fargo Center for a meeting with the Flyers, who lead them by five points in the Atlantic race. The Penguins have been off since Monday's 5-4 shootout win in Detroit; the Flyers lost 5-4 to Washington in a shootout at home on Tuesday.

The NHL Network will air the game, one of nine on Thursday's schedule and one of four that gets under way at 7 p.m. ET.

Montreal begins the night three points behind first-place Boston in the Northeast Division as the Canadiens head to TD Garden for a showdown with the Bruins. Boston is coming off a solid 4-1 home win against New Jersey on Tuesday, the same night Montreal lost 2-0 to Buffalo at home. The game can be seen in Canada on RDS and TSN.

Two of the three New York-area teams are home. The Rangers try for their sixth win in a row when Ottawa comes to Madison Square Garden. The Rangers blanked Florida 1-0 on Tuesday, while Ottawa lost 4-3 at Carolina. The Islanders are back home after Tuesday's 5-2 win at Tampa Bay for a game against Atlanta, which has been idle since being routed 8-2 at Buffalo on Saturday.

Anaheim will try to snap Nashville's four-game winning streak when the Ducks come to Bridgestone Arena for an 8 p.m. ET start. Also at 8, Edmonton, a 3-1 loser at Nashville on Tuesday, moves on to St. Louis. The Blues are back home after a 1-3-0 road trip that ended with a 2-1 loss at Phoenix on Tuesday.

Toronto, coming off Tuesday's 3-0 win at Minnesota, visits Colorado at 9 p.m. ET. The Avs rallied to beat Columbus 5-4 in a shootout on Tuesday. The Blue Jackets visit Phoenix for a 10 p.m. ET start.

In the final game of the night, San Jose visits Los Angeles at 10:30 p.m. ET. The Sharks are trying to hold off Phoenix for first place in the Pacific Division; the Kings, who've been off since Monday's 2-1 shootout win against Calgary, are trying to catch both teams while hanging on to one of the final playoff berths in the West.
