The Vancouver Canucks have been on top of the Western Conference for most of the season. The Detroit Red Wings are trying to catch them -- and they know they'll need to win Wednesday night's meeting at Joe Louis Arena if they have any hopes of doing so.
The teams face off at 7:30 p.m. ET in a game that can be seen on Versus in the United States and TSN in Canada. It's one of four games on Wednesday's schedule.
At 8:30 p.m. ET, the Chicago Blackhawks return home after Sunday's 2-1 win at Phoenix for a game against Florida. Two of the other teams the Blackhawks are battling for the final playoff berths in the West, Anaheim and Dallas, meet at the American Airlines Center. The Ducks are starting a road trip after Sunday's 5-4 OT win against Calgary, while Dallas has been idle since a 3-2 shootout loss to Philadelphia on Saturday.
In the final game of the night, Calgary completes a three-game swing through California with a visit to San Jose. The Sharks have been off since Saturday's 5-3 win against St. Louis.
