Quenneville returns to Blackhawks practice
Joel Quenneville returns to Chicago Blackhawks practice.
Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville is back with the team after missing four games while hospitalized due to an ulcer.

Quenneville returned to practice Wednesday after assistant coach Mike Haviland went 3-1-0 in his absence.

"I was on IR for a week," Quenneville joked. "We'll call it an upper-body injury."

Quenneville spent four days in the hospital while receiving treatment for gastrointestinal bleeding caused by a small ulcer. He has a 125-66-25 record during his three seasons with the Blackhawks, including winning the Stanley Cup last June.

"It's all good to go," Quenneville said. "The only pain I was in was sitting in a hospital and watching games. I think Havy did a great job running the bench. I thought they did a good job."

Chicago, which returns to action Thursday in Nashville, came into Wednesday one of four teams tied for eighth in the Western Conference with 68 points. After tiebreakers factor in, the Blackhawks rank 10th in the conference.

Quote of the Day

Just the feel for the direction they were headed and what they're trying to do, it just felt that this is a really good thing for this organization. They've got the pieces. We can put something together and go on a run or two and be together for a while, and I'm really excited about that opportunity. The team we have here has an opportunity to win, and that's the most attractive thing.
