Isles lose another goalie -- Poulin dislocates kneecap
The Islanders announced Wednesday that goaltender Kevin Poulin will miss the rest of the season with a dislocated kneecap.
Another day, another goaltending issue for the New York Islanders.

The team announced Wednesday that Kevin Poulin, who was injured during warm-ups prior to Tuesday's game against the Maple Leafs, will miss the rest of the season following surgery to repair a dislocated left kneecap.

Poulin, a rookie called up Jan. 31, appeared to trip over a rut in the ice before the game started. He immediately left the ice and needed help going up the tunnel to the locker room.

Poulin is the third Islanders goalie currently on injured reserve. Fellow rookie Nathan Lawson is out with a knee injury, while Rick DiPietro is out with facial injuries suffered in a fight with the Penguins' Brent Johnson on Feb. 5.

Mikko Koskinen, a 6-foot-6 rookie taken with the 31st pick of the 2009 Entry Draft, made his NHL debut in Poulin's place Tuesday, and allowed goals on the first two shots he saw as the Isles lost 5-3. The Islanders played most of the game without a backup goalie; Joel Martin arrived from AHL Bridgeport in time to sit on the bench for the third period.

Koskinen likely will start Thursday against the Canadiens.
