PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Flyers hope to use the energy and emotion emanating from within Wells Fargo Center to their advantage prior to the opening faceoff against the Nashville Predators on Thursday.
 
The joint certainly will be jumping, too, as Flyers icon Bob Clarke will be presented with his No. 16 banner that hung in the Spectrum during a pregame ceremony. On top of that, the Flyers also would like to nix any lingering memory of Tuesday's 4-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
 
"A good start will be big," forward Scott Hartnell said. "The crowd will be pumped, as it always is, and we have to use that to our advantage. We have to get pucks deep. Against Tampa, we turned pucks over and got cute sometimes and it cost us early on."
 
Flyers coach Peter Laviolette has opted to go right back to rookie goalie Sergei Bobrovsky against the Predators, who will counter with rookie Anders Lindback. Bobrovsky was pulled after giving up three goals on six shots in the opening period against the Lightning and was replaced by Brian Boucher as Philadelphia lost for just the third time in its last 13 games.
 
"We all get to go out there (Thursday) and get a chance to right the wrong," Laviolette said. "No one is happy with what went on and how we played. I have confidence in both our goalies, but now's the chance for (Bobrovsky) to go back in and get back in the net and get a win as a team."
 
Flyers defenseman Matt Carle admits the team has been itching to get back at it after suffering their fourth shutout loss this season. (Incidentally, the Flyers are one of only two teams in the League to not have shut out an opponent.)
 
"We don't want to use the All-Star break as an excuse for our bad effort because they were coming off the same break as we were," Carle said. "We just didn't get off to the start that we wanted to, and once they get a lead, they play a pretty tight defensive system. It just seemed like we couldn't get anything going. 
 
"You almost hope for a back-to-back situation after those types of losses. But Nashville is a pretty underrated team, so we need to be ready to play. When you're playing against a team you don't really know, you want to come out and get off to a good start and kind of dictate the pace of play and try to make them adjust to us rather than making adjustments to them."
 
And that's the plan starting with the opening drop of the puck.
 
"They've had a great year and are tight defensively, they have great goaltending and you don't get to see them that much," Laviolette said. "It should be a good challenge for us."
 
The Flyers are 1-2-0 and have been outscored 17-14 in three previous games following a shutout loss this season.
 
"We have to find a way to kick it into the next gear once again," forward Danny Briere said. "We've put ourselves in a good position over the first 50 games of the season. We have to realize there's still a lot of work to be done. All year, every time we've had a bad game we were pretty good at bouncing back and we'll have to do that again."
