New York Rangers GM Glen Sather announced Sunday night that forward Alex Frolov has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, a second-degree sprain of his medial collateral ligament and a medial meniscus tear in his right knee, and will undergo season-ending surgery.
Frolov was examined by Dr. Andrew Feldman and had an MRI performed earlier Sunday. He sustained the injury during a 2-1 win at St. Louis on Saturday night. Frolov has seven goals and nine assists for 16 points, along with eight penalty minutes in 43 games this season.
He signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Rangers last summer.
