Penguins play last Classic tuneup
It would be hard to blame the Pittsburgh Penguins for looking ahead to their Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic showdown with the Washington Capitals on Saturday -- after all, no other NHL game has its own HBO documentary series.

But the Penguins have work to do first, and after Tuesday's 6-3 home victory against Atlanta, the Penguins have a date at the Nassau Coliseum on Wednesday night for a game against the New York Islanders.

Sidney Crosby will be trying to extend his point-scoring streak to 26 games while facing the Islanders, who were 4-0-1 before Monday night's 7-2 thrashing in New York.

The Penguins-Isles game starts at 7 p.m. ET and is one of six on Wednesday's schedule.
The Rangers will try to build on their wipeout of the Islanders when they visit their other local rival, the New Jersey Devils, at 7 p.m. ET. The Devils are coming off a 4-1 home loss to Toronto on Sunday in a game played during a blizzard.

At 7:30, Carolina moves on to Ottawa after Tuesday's 4-3 win at Toronto. The Senators are also coming off a win -- they beat the Penguins 3-1 on Sunday.

A half-hour later, the San Jose Sharks begin a road trip with a visit to Minnesota. The Sharks lost 4-0 at home to Los Angeles on Monday, while the Wild are coming off a 4-1 home loss to Detroit on Sunday.

At 8:30, the Red Wings move on to Dallas, where the Stars are back home after Wednesday's 4-2 win at Nashville. The last game of the night begins at 9, when the Phoenix Coyotes host Los Angeles. The Coyotes were beaten 3-1 by Anaheim at home on Tuesday.
