Chiarelli: Lucic fined, not suspended for incident
Following a disciplinary hearing with the NHL, Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli has been informed by the league that forward Milan Lucic will not be suspended for his role in an incident in Boston's game against the Atlanta Thrashers on Dec. 23, according to the Bruins.

Chiarelli released the following statement Sunday afternoon regarding the NHL's decision:

"The NHL has informed us that Milan will not be suspended as a result of the match penalty assessed to him during our game against the Thrashers last Thursday. He will be fined $2,500 for the punch thrown in the scrum and $1,000 for making an obscene gesture directed at the Thrashers bench. He will join the team on the flight to Florida and be available for Monday’s game against the Panthers."
Quote of the Day

That's today's game. That's one of the things you have to deal with when you're a championship team. Guys are going to earn more money based on their performance and what they've achieved, [and] deservedly so. [Saad] falls into that category.
