Penguins go for six in a row on a busy Saturday

After a slow start, the Pittsburgh Penguins are on a roll. They won their fifth game in a row with a 2-1 victory against Ottawa on Friday, and will try to extend that streak Saturday afternoon when the Calgary Flames come to the Consol Energy Center.

The Flames are wrapping up a tough trip -- this is their fifth game in seven days. But they come to Pittsburgh after winning their first game during the trip, beating the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in a shootout.

The Flames-Penguins game is one of 11 on Saturday's NHL schedule -- and one of two that gets under way at 1 p.m. ET. In the other, the Flyers head up the New Jersey Turnpike for a game against the Devils, who come home after a 2-0 loss on Long Island.

Two more games start at 7 p.m. ET. Buffalo comes to Montreal after a 3-1 home victory against Toronto for a game that will be shown on CBC and RDS in Canada and the NHL Network in the U.S. The Canadiens lost 3-0 at Atlanta on Friday. The Leafs move from Buffalo to Ottawa for a game against the Senators.

A half-hour later, Tampa Bay hosts Florida in an in-state battle of teams that were shut out on the road Friday -- the Lightning lost 6-0 at Washington while the Panthers were beaten 3-0 at home by the New York Rangers.

The Blueshirts move on to Nashville in one of three games that starts at 8 p.m. ET. In the others, Dallas visits St. Louis in the back end of a home-and-home series, and Anaheim tries to bounce back from a 4-1 home loss to Chicago when the Ducks visit Phoenix. The Coyotes, looking for their eighth win in a row, have been off since Tuesday's 5-0 whipping of Edmonton.

Minnesota, a 5-2 winner at home against Nashville on Friday, is at Colorado for a 9 p.m. ET start. An hour later, CBC will be on hand for San Jose's visit to Edmonton.

The day's final game starts at 10:30 p.m. ET when Chicago wraps up its two-week "Circus Trip" with a visit to Los Angeles. The Hawks need a win to get a split on the trip. L.A. is home after a tough four-game road trip that ended with a 4-1 loss at Montreal on Wednesday.
