Price, Crosby and Semin top week's 'Three Stars'
NEW YORK -- Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price, Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby and Washington Capitals left wing Alexander Semin have been named the NHL 'Three Stars' for the week ending Nov. 14.

FIRST STAR -- CAREY PRICE, G, MONTREAL CANADIENS

Price posted a 3-0-0 record, 1.00 goals-against average, .970 save percentage and one shutout as the Canadiens (11-5-1) extended their lead in the Northeast Division to four points. Price recorded 34 saves for his second shutout of the season in a 2-0 victory over the visiting Vancouver Canucks on Nov. 9, outdueling Canucks goaltender and Montreal native Roberto Luongo. He posted a second consecutive 34-save performance in a 3-1 victory over the Boston Bruins Nov. 11 and finished the week by making 28 saves in a 7-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes Nov. 13, Montreal's first regulation win over Carolina at Bell Centre since Dec. 6, 2003. Price improved to 10-5-1 with a 2.18 goals-against average, .923 save percentage and two shutouts in 16 appearances this season.

SECOND STAR -- SIDNEY CROSBY, C, PITTSBURGH PENGUINS

Crosby tallied eight points (three goals, five assists) last week, helping the Penguins (9-8-1) win two of three starts. Crosby notched multiple points in each game, starting with a goal and two assists in a 7-4 loss to the Boston Bruins on Nov. 10. He recorded one goal and one assist in a 5-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning Nov. 12 and added three points (one goal, two assists) in a 4-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers Nov. 13. The Penguins captain, who has collected multiple points in each of his past five games, ranks second in League scoring with 27 points (12 goals, 15 assists).

THIRD STAR -- ALEXANDER SEMIN, LW, WASHINGTON CAPITALS

Semin joined Crosby atop the weekly scoring list with eight points (four goals, four assists) as the Capitals (13-4-1) won three of four games and concluded the week first in the NHL overall standings. After tallying one assist in a 5-3 win over the New York Rangers Nov. 9, Semin recorded a five-point night in a 6-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning Nov. 11, highlighted by a third-period hat trick, a pair of assists and +3 rating. He tallied one assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres Nov. 13 and closed the week by scoring his 13th goal of the season in a 6-4 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers Nov. 14. Semin ranks among League leaders in goals (second, 13) and points (fourth, 23).
