Rangers' Boogaard breaks goal drought
Derek Boogaard of the New York Rangers broke the NHL's longest goal-scoring drought among active players when he scored 3:15 into the second period of Tuesday night's game against the New York Rangers.

Boogaard's shot past Michal Neuvirth was the third goal of his career and his first since Jan. 7, 2006, when he scored against Anaheim while playing for the Minnesota Wild.

Washington defenseman John Erskine missed the net on a shot from the left circle, and fellow defenseman Tyler Sloan missed the puck at the right point. Boogaard picked up the puck, raced down the left side on a 2-on-0 break and teed up a slap shot from just inside the left circle that beat Neuvirth.
