Kings' Doughty to miss time with injury
Kings' Doughty could miss the team's entire five-game road trip with an upper-body injury he suffered Wednesday night against Carolina.
Los Angeles defenseman Drew Doughty will be out of the lineup for only the second time in his career when the Kings play in Phoenix tonight. The problem is Doughty could miss the team's entire five-game road trip with an upper-body injury he suffered Wednesday night against Carolina.

Doughty was hurt late in the first period when Carolina forward Erik Cole checked him just inside Hurricanes' blue line a split second after Doughty had released the puck. Doughty did not make the trip to Phoenix and Kings GM Dean Lombardi told Rich Hammond of the L.A. Kings Insider that the young defenseman would be out "at least a week."

Hammond reports that Lombardi would not elaborate on the nature of Doughty's injury. The Kings play in Phoenix, Colorado, Minnesota, Chicago and Dallas before returning home for a game against New Jersey on Oct. 30.

Quote of the Day

I'm hoping Bob [Murray] didn't go out and get Dany Heatley just to get someone. I'm sure he's excited and motivated.
