TORONTO (AP) - Vancouver Canucks forward Rick Rypien has been suspended indefinitely for grabbing a fan while heading to the locker room in the game against Minnesota.

Rypien was on the way to the visiting locker room in Minnesota on Tuesday night after being assessed a double minor for roughing and a 10-minute misconduct in the second period. Rypien pushed a Wild fan who was applauding at the railing.

He was pulled away by teammate Manny Malhotra and the fan was removed from the area.

Rypien will have a hearing and the length of his suspension will be determined by the NHL.

The Canucks visit Chicago on Wednesday night.

The NHL has handed out five suspensions and issued four fines in the past 10 days.

Quote of the Day

For our team, as a group, we've never been this far before, and so it's just more lessons learned, and sometimes you have to go to the school of hard knocks to find out what works and what doesn't. We've got a young group. They've played some unreal hockey here to get us this far, and we showed if we're not going to play the proper way, a really, really good hockey team is going to beat you, and that's what they did. It's a lesson learned.
