The Vancouver Canucks added another new defenseman to their roster Thursday with the acquisition of Nathan Paetsch from the Florida Panthers in exchange for defenseman Sean Zimmerman.

Paetsch, 27, split the 2009-10 season with Columbus and Buffalo. He registered 2 points (1-1-2) in 11 games with Buffalo and 6 penalty minutes in 10 games with Columbus. In 167 NHL games he has totalled 7 goals and 42 points, with 114 penalty minutes and a plus-12 rating.

Zimmerman, 23, finished the 2009-10 season with nine points (2-7-9) and 105 penalty minutes in 72 games played with the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL.

Vancouver also added defenseman Ryan Parent in a trade Wednesday with Nashville for Shane O'Brien.
Quote of the Day

I have been blessed to play for 16 years in the NHL; it has been an amazing ride. I would like to thank the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers organizations and owners for providing me the opportunity to play the sport I love for so many years. I could have never played for so long or accomplished all that I have without the unwavering love and support from my wife, Heather, our three sons, Ryan, Lucas, and Mason, and my parents.

— Martin St. Louis after announcing his retirement from the NHL on Thursday
