Islanders invite six to camp
The New York Islanders are bringing six players to training camp on professional tryouts.

Jed Ortmeyer accepted his invitation Monday. Ortmeyer posted NHL career-highs in goals (8), assists (11) and points (19) in 76 games with the San Jose Sharks last season. He has skated in 306 NHL games with the New York Rangers, Nashville Predators and Sharks. Ortmeyer turned pro with the Rangers in 2003-04 after a four-year collegiate career at the University of Michigan.

Also coming to camp are defenseman Anders Erikkson, forwards Dean McAmmond and Krys Kolanos and goaltenders Manny Legace and Joel Martin.
Quote of the Day

For our team, as a group, we've never been this far before, and so it's just more lessons learned, and sometimes you have to go to the school of hard knocks to find out what works and what doesn't. We've got a young group. They've played some unreal hockey here to get us this far, and we showed if we're not going to play the proper way, a really, really good hockey team is going to beat you, and that's what they did. It's a lesson learned.
