NHL Face-Off set for opening night in Toronto

Dundas Square in downtown Toronto will be the epicenter of the kickoff to the 2010-11 NHL season when NHL Face-Off is held Oct. 7.

The hockey and entertainment festival will start at noon and finish following that night's season-opening game between the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.

The latest chapter in the Leafs-Habs rivalry is one of five games set for opening day of the season.

In the square, there will be live music, interactive attractions that test hockey skills, prizes and giveaways, including a trip to the 2011 NHL Heritage Classic, special guest appearances by former NHL players, and beverage and merchandise tents.

CBC will televise the game, with Hockey Night in Canada broadcasting live in the square. Also, video boards in the square will show Versus' opening-night doubleheader, the defending Eastern Conference champion Philadelphia Flyers helping the Pittsburgh Penguins open their new home, Consol Energy Center (7 p.m. ET), and the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks visiting the Colorado Avalanche (10 p.m. ET).

NHL Network also will broadcast the day's events from Dundas Square throughout the day.
