The Atlanta Thrashers have signed unrestricted free-agent forward Nigel Dawes. Terms of the contract were not released, but according to USA Today's Kevin Allen, Dawes signed a two-way contract that will pay him $600,00 if he plays in the NHL, $105,000 if he's in the AHL.
Dawes had a career-best 32 points in 66 games with the Calgary Flames last season, and his 14 goals tied his previous personal high. In 199 NHL games with the Rangers, Coyotes and Flames, he has 39 goals and 83 points.
The 25-year-old Winnipeg native was a 2003 fifth-round pick of the Rangers.
