Thrashers, Bergfors agree to terms
According to a report by ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun, the Thrashers and Niclas Bergfors have agreed on a one-year contract for the 2010-11 season.
The Atlanta Thrashers have signed restricted free-agent forward Niclas Bergfors to a new contract. Terms of the deal were not revealed, but an earlier ESPN.com report claimed Bergfors signed a one-year, $900,000 contract.

Bergfors, 23, was part of the deal last season that sent Ilya Kovalchuk to the New Jersey Devils. In 27 games with Atlanta, Bergfors had 8 goals and 17 points. He had 13 goals and 27 points in 54 games with the Devils prior to the trade.

His 21 goals and 44 points in 81 games total earned him a spot on the NHL All-Rookie Team.

The Devils' 2005 first-round pick, Bergfors has 22 goals and 45 points in 90 NHL games spread over parts of three seasons.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
