Mueller, Avs agree to 2-year deal
The Colorado Avalanche and restricted free-agent forward Peter Mueller have agreed on a two-year contract. Financial terms of the contract were not released, but TSN is reporting the deal will pay Mueller $1.5 million this season and $2.5 million in 2011-12.

"We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Peter," said Avalanche General Manager Greg Sherman. "We look forward to seeing him next week at training camp."

Mueller struggled with the Phoenix Coyotes last season, but was dealt to Colorado at the trade deadline for Wojtek Wolski and became a major part of the Avalanche's playoff push, scoring 20 points in 15 games. His season ended prematurely due to a concussion sustained on April 4 against San Jose.

The Coyotes made Mueller the eighth pick of the 2006 Entry Draft. He scored 22 goals as a rookie in 2007-08 but has not gotten back to that total -- dipping to 13 goals in 2008-09 and just 4 goals and 17 points in 54 games last season prior to his trade to Colorado.

In 222 NHL games, the 22-year-old Mueller has 48 goals and 127 points.
