Thrashers add to defense corps with Meyer signing
The Atlanta Thrashers have signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Freddy Meyer, according to General Manager Rick Dudley.
The Atlanta Thrashers have signed free-agent defenseman Freddy Meyer to a one-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but TSN is reporting the two-way deal would pay Meyer $500,000 if he plays in the NHL, $105,000 if he's in the AHL.

Meyer, 29, played a career-best 64 games last season with the New York Islanders, totaling 4 goals and 15 points.

The 5-foot-10, 192-pound native of Sanbornville, N.H., has 19 goals and 71 points in 266 NHL games with the Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers and Phoenix Coyotes.
