The New York Islanders announced Wednesday the signings of centers Andy Hilbert and Rob Hisey to one-year, two-way contracts.

Hilbert returns to the Islanders after playing in the Minnesota Wild organization last season. He was scoreless in four NHL games, spending most of his season with AHL Houston, where he had 25 points (9 goals, 16 assists) in 33 games. Prior to his stint with the Wild, Hilbert was a member of the Islanders for three seasons, accumulating 27 goals and 71 points in 218 games. He was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round (No. 37) of the 2000 Entry Draft.

In eight NHL seasons, he has 42 goals and 104 points in 307 games with the Bruins, Blackhawks, Penguins, Islanders and Wild.

Hisey played his first season of professional hockey in North America last season, splitting time with the AHL Springfield Falcons and the Central Hockey League's Tulsa Oilers.  A native of Oakville, Ont., Hisey had 11 goals and 14 assists in 37 AHL games.

Prior to coming to North America last season, Hisey had spent his first four professional seasons playing throughout Europe.

Playing for my favorite team growing up, I've probably scored that goal a million times in my driveway. It feels good to actually do it in real life.
