COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -The Blue Jackets have signed forward Ben Guite to a one-year contract.
General manager Scott Howson announced the signing Wednesday. Terms were not revealed.
The 32-year-old Guite was scoreless with four penalty minutes in six games with the Nashville Predators last season. He also played with Milwaukee of the American Hockey League, where he had eight goals and 13 assists in 64 games.
The Montreal native has 19 goals and 26 assists in 175 NHL games with Boston, Colorado and Nashville. He set career highs with 11 goals and 11 assists in 79 games with the Avalanche in 2007-08.
The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
