The Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning swapped goaltenders Monday night, as the Habs acquired Karri Ramo in exchange for Cedrick Desjardins.

Ramo, 24, spent the 2009-10 season with Omsk in the KHL. He went 21-17-4 with a 2.11 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage. A sixth-round draft choice (No. 191) in 2004, Ramo is currently a restricted free agent. He last played with Tampa Bay in 2008-09, when he appeared in 24 games and posted a 4-10-7 record with a 3.66 GAA.

Desjardins, who turns 25 on Sept. 30, has yet to appear in an NHL game. In 45 games with AHL Hamilton last season, the Edmundston, New Brunswick, native went 29-9-4 with a 2.00 GAA and a .919 save percentage. Desjardins signed with the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones as an undrafted free agent in 2006.
Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
