Flames re-sign Conroy
Craig Conroy will be a Calgary Flame for another season after the 38-year-old center signed a one-year contract.
Craig Conroy will be a Calgary Flame for another season. Flames Executive Vice President and General Manager Darryl Sutter announced Wednesday that the 38-year-old center has signed a one-year contract.

Conroy, a native of Potsdam, N.Y., will be entering his 15th NHL season. He has 180 goals and 360 assists for 540 points in 991 regular-season games.

The former Flames captain will continue his second tour of duty with Calgary. He was with the Flames from 2000-04, a stint highlighted by a trip to the Stanley Cup Final in 2004. Conroy signed with Los Angeles as a free agent in 2004, but was reacquired by the Flames in 2007 in exchange for Jamie Lundmark and future considerations.

An avid supporter of the Calgary community, Conroy was the recipient of the 2010 Ralph T. Scurfield Humanitarian Award, which is presented each year to the Flames player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, determination and leadership on the ice, combined with dedication to community service. He was also honored with the 2009 J.R. McCaig Award, presented annually to a player and staff member who best exemplify virtues of respect, courtesy and compassion for all individuals in professional and everyday life.
Quote of the Day

He seemed to thrive on his own and didn't really need any push from me. I certainly don't want to get in the way of the coaches. You see how that goes sometimes. I never really worried about it and just enjoyed the ride.
