Sabres re-sign Mancari
Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have re-signed restricted free agent forward Mark Mancari to a one-year contract.

Mancari (7/11/1985, 6'4", 225 lbs.) has led Buffalo's AHL affiliate in scoring for each of the past three seasons, including 74 points (28+46) in 74 games for the Portland Pirates in 2009-10.

He finished eighth in league scoring, and topped the Pirates in goals, assists and points. Mancari also led the Pirates with 14 power goals, and was second with a plus-16 rating. The 25-year-old Mancari had two points (1+1) in six games during four separate recalls to Buffalo last season, giving him five points (2+3) in 16 career NHL games.

Mancari was drafted by Buffalo in the seventh round (207th overall) of the 2004 Entry Draft.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.

— Bryan Trottier on making his return to coaching as an assistant with the Sabres
