Report: Modano to Red Wings
According to the Detroit Free Press, Mike Modano will sign with the Detroit Red Wings.

The Wings have been in talks with Modano for the past month. He visited Detroit as well.

Modano, 40, a Michigan native, will be playing at home for the first time in his career after spending 20 seasons with the Stars, first in Minnesota and then in Dallas. He is the highest-scoring American-born player in NHL history.

I'm cautiously optimistic," Red Wings GM Ken Holland said. "When Mike was in Detroit a couple of weeks ago and spent time here, and in all the conversations I've had since with him and his agent, Mike Liut, I think they understand all the positives to coming to Detroit."
Quote of the Day

I definitely think going back down helped me, I had a lot of confidence down there, I played a lot of minutes and I think that helped me a lot. With the 37 games up here, that gave me experience as well. I know what it takes to play in the NHL and now it's time for me to show that I'm capable of being a full-time NHL player.
