Demers gets two-year extension from Sharks
Jason Demers, who tied for fourth last season among rookie defensemen in scoring, signed a two-year contract extension with the San Jose Sharks on Friday.

"Jason's puck-moving capabilities and competitive nature fit well with where our team is trending," San Jose GM Doug Wilson said. "He is very capable of executing the up-tempo style of game we want to play and we see him as an important part of our team."

Demers, a seventh-round pick in the 2008 Entry Draft, finished with 4 goals and 21 despite playing in only NHL 51 games. He also played in 25 games with Worcester of the AHL, where he collected 4 goals and 17 points.

In the Stanley Cup Playoffs with San Jose, he added 1 goal and 5 points in 15 games.

The Sharks also re-signed defenseman Mike Moore, who registered 3 goals, 22 points and 82 penalty minutes in 64 games with Worcester last season.

Moore has tallied 8 goals, 40 points and 230 penalty minutes in 143 career games with Worcester.
