Ladd, Thrashers avoid arbitration
Andrew Ladd and the Atlanta Thrashers have avoideded an arbitration hearing, which was scheduled for Thursday, with Ladd signing a new contract.

Terms of the deal weren't revelaed by the team, but according to Rogers Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos, the one-year deal is worth $2.35 million.

Ladd, 24, was traded to Atlanta from the Chicago Blackhawks on July 1 for prospect Ivan Vishnevskiy and a 2011 second-round draft pick. The two-time Stanley Cup champion and former first-round pick had a career-high 17 goals to go along with 21 assists last season.

On Wednesday, the Thrashers avoided arbitration with another former Blackhawk, Ben Eager, who reportedly signed for one year and $965,000. Atlanta acquired Eager in a trade just prior to the Entry Draft last month.

Eager, 26, appeared in 60 games with the Blackhawks last season, totaling 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists) and a team-leading 120 penalty minutes.
